I believe in the value of effective supervision that is not about creating clinicians like me but rather supporting clinicians in developing who they are as practitioners while maintaining ethics and learning how to utilize tools in ethical decision making.

Much of my supervision focused on understanding trauma and attachment as well as simply learning to attune to the client and not push for what WE think is best but helping the client develop their own inner wisdom. Similarly, I want to help clinicians develop listening to their own inner wisdom as the process of graduate school often can lead to self doubt, trying to do it “right” and anxiety around mistake making. In that, much of the supervision I provide also focused heavily on self of a therapist work. I firmly believe that therapists care deeply about their work and in that care we can sometimes lose our amazing natural skills that we had before going to graduate school.
